We’ve started a new fly fishing guiding comapny called Wild Waters Guiding – offering half-day and full-day trips in NC, and a multi-day trip out in Colorado!
If you’ve been around the owner of WNC Photo Tours – J Smilanic – at all in the past year, you’ve likely heard him talk about his newest obsession of fly fishing. This was an inevitable move! Wild Waters Guiding will be offering guided fly-fishing trips in a lot of the same areas that we do our photo tours at.
Our passion for exploring nature continues
Our passion for exploring goes hand-in-hand with both landscape photography and fly fishing. This move is simply another way to share beautiful and scenic places with more people, in new ways.
Wild Waters Guiding specializes in guided trips for wild trout. In the trout fly-fishing world, there are basically two types of trout you fish for: wild trout and stocked trout. The locations for stocked trout in North Carolina are generally well-known locations with lots of folks fishing at those spots. Our goal at Wild Waters is to bring folks to the lesser-known areas to find and catch wild trout. These locations tend to be quite scenic. But we’ll also bring you to the best locations for stocked trout as well. The creeks in Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee have a special charm that we want to share with as many people as possible.
What does this mean for WNC Photo Tours?
Nothing. Nothing will change at WNC Photo Tours as a result. We will continue to keep offering the same tours and workshops and will continue to grow our offerings and services.
But I’m only interested in photography!
That’s fine! But are you sure? Have you tried fly fishing? It’s considerably cheaper than photography! Haha. It’s a ton of fun and we would encourage most folks to give it a shot at least once! We’ll do our best to show you a great time and make it easy for you.
